Tondu Under 16s   21

 

Tough game today and it seemed like we just didn’t have the luck with us today. We created many chances but we couldn’t get over the line but we were in the game until the end and boys kept on fighting. Tondu went into 9 nill head start where we gave away penalties which Tondu slotted over, once we got our rhythm going we looked much better our defensive line speed was good and when we moved the ball through the hands we always looked dangerous and once we had quick ball Dewi put Mack away for try. Tondu came back hard and we’re much quicker over the ball as we got disconnected with our runners and they pinched a few balls when we were on the front foot.

 

Everyone of the boys today did us proud there were some thunderous hits and Ben and Harrison stepped up to the plate when they came on. We were unlucky in first half with driving maul where Dex crossed the line but unfortunately the ref was on the other side and when he came arround Tondu had got under the ball. Tondu came back strong and scored but our boys didn’t give up which was great credit to them and came back with a penalty (which was my call as I thought score was 19 points to tondu not 21) and Dex got over the line to put pressure on Tondu. Dex joint player of the game for tackles and number of times he was over the ball jackling away and his power game. Joint him was Dewi who was on his game from the start a massive tackle in first minutes and ran the line well taking the ball to the line and using his feet to beat the first man and then offload to the runner, and with two turnovers and two rips. Last mention for Cae who was having and excellent game and with a nasty knee injury who was in a lot of pain, get well soon.

 

Next week we will train on Thursday with the Youth squad and no game next weekend.

 

We will aim to play some under 17 games in coming weeks to integrate with the Youth. Good luck in the final Tondu, but very proud of this young men out there today representing their club.
