Kirsty Openshaw-Rowe Appointed Senior Women's Head Coach

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kirsty Openshaw-Rowe as Head Coach for our Senior Women's squad. Kirsty has a wealth of coaching experience with RFU and Scottish Rugby squads.
 
Coaching career highlights so far include:
* Head coach and founder of the girls section at Wimbledon RFC. Upon Kirsty's departure 5 years later she left with over 60 girls across all age groups, with teams winning various competitions and many players representing counties and RFU Centre of Excellence.
* Forwards & Defence coach Surrey Girls U18s - Winning the National Cup.
* Hillhead Jordan Hill RFC Girls (Glasgow) Head coach. U18s playing the National Cup Final at Murrayfield
* RFU Community Rugby Coach- working with London clubs, universities and schools to grow participation.
* Harlequins RFC Rugby Development Officer - Growing participation specifically with women and girls. Founder and Head Coach of Harlequins wheelchair rugby team.
* Barnes RFC Women Head coach. Growing participation numbers to allow for two squads, both coming top three in their respective leagues.
* England Fire Service Rugby. Growing participation of female firefighters and helping to grow the participation levels in throughout home nations.
 
Kirsty's coaching ethos has always been centered around having fun and the focus is in creating a good, safe, positive environment for players to thrive in.
 
Kirsty said "If we can get this right, I believe that competitive nature and a higher performing team will follow. I am excited to work with Porthcawl RFC and play with the #Shegulls this upcoming season which is a team that has already got these elements right. I look forward to continuing this journey with this friendly yet ambitious bunch".
