Today we played a very strong side who showed us how to pass the ball wide into  space but also how to hit the rucks hard and win the turnovers,  the ravens did these basics well today and it showed. On the positive, not once did any of our players give up and we showed true team spirit throughout the game to get straight back at the ravens after each try. When we passed the ball into wide channels we looked good with Mac, Scott, piers and oscar having some great runs into space but just getting tackled at the last moment either into touch or we were isolated and the ball was turned over after the tackle as we were slow to support the runners, to take the offload or ruck the opposition off the ball. Joel continued his good form with some great runs and was awarded top try scorer for his efforts in attack but he was run close by Oscar, Dewi, joe and Samuel who had  strong all-round games . Joe on his debut   showed up well in attack and also got 8 tackles to round off a great first game. Another two who tackled well was Rueben who is getting up to speed with the game and made a number of try saving tackles and was awarded top tackler for his effort. Charlie and max are starting to get into the swing of things  along with ben after his injury. Another man who was not taking a backward step was Jack who tackled his heart out all game, no matter who came down his channel no one was going to get pass him and he was awarded clubman best effort. Next week we will see jack taking the opposition on the outside and show his attacking pace and sidesteps to go with his defensive efforts. There were so many who put their bodies on the line that could have had the last award clubman making a difference  but today it had to be shared between Dylan and lex who continued to charge forward in defence and ran the ball forward in attack  even when we were on the back foot. Although a defeat of this size is hard to take, and we are a better side than this but we need to be more street wise in the rucks and believe more  in our ability to move the ball wide in attack and front up in defence.  every player and us coach's will learn from  today but I sign off today knowing that the spirit in the team was strong today and they never say die attitude was first class, something that we can build on this for next week.
