Builth Welsl RFC 15 Porthcawl RFC 19

Porthcawl travelled to mid-Wales to face a Builth Wells side that is well in the mix in the top of the division and came away with an excellent and hard-fought victory.

Builth’s game is primarily built on their strong pack a number of whom are from farming stock but the Seaweeds matched them and this provided the foundation for the win.

With his kicking boots firmly laced up flyhalf Josh White capitalised with three fine penalties and a snap drop goal. His conversion of winger Jordan Fox’s try put the icing on the cake as the home side showed just how strong they are at home, having beaten division leaders Aberavon Quins previously.

The first half performance was key for Porthcawl and points on the board meant they turned round at half-time with a solid position.

With the second half having become a real battle up front it took all the Seaweeds had to hold out in the final 10 minutes and record this 19-15 victory, to remain in second spot.

Porthcawl return to South Road on Saturday seeking the double over local rivals HEOL-y-CYW, kick-off at 2.30.
