Today our boys started to believe in themselves and although we had a slow start we got into the groove and started to move the ball which allowed our runners to exploit the space. Llantwit were a strong team with a very good defence stopping some of our strongest runners in their tracks. Dewi got us off the mark following some quick recycling of the ball after, Scott, Dexter and Oscar had taken us up field to cross in the corner. Our defence started well tackling Llantwit out on numerous occasions but when we had the ball we stopped moving the ball wide and kept on running into a ferocious defence and we started throwing loose passes where there was no support giving Llantwit the ball on countless occasions and we soon let Llantwit level the game. I asked every player to believe in themselves and their team mates and after we went one all we would either pull together or our heads would drop. Thankfully they pulled together and started charging up in a line and we started to drive them back in the tackle. Up stood our birthday boy Dylan to drive over the line and put us ahead. From the kick off we drove them back again showing great rhythm Lex was back in his groove tackling his heart out all game getting up in the line and picking up top tackler. Close behind him was Piers and Oscar who both took the defensive line up and ran hard all day. Harry, Joel and Ben continued to progress making tackles and taking the ball forward with the ball. Dexter and Scott ran hard all day and gave us go forward ball where we started to move the ball with some fluency with Jack getting more and more into the game we started to pur where Mackenzie who raced up took an interception to put us into the lead. We then threw a wild pass for Llantwit to score which gave them confidence and they quickly rattled up a second with some good passing. We rallied again and drove them back with, jack, Matt and Piers being held up short but Dewi powered over on a short ball to go into the break one up. We were now passing the ball well and Mackenzie who was back to his powerful best side stepped up the line following some great passing to cross in the corner. For the last 10min Oscar moved back to scrum half and asked him to make decisions on the game along with Dewi and Matthew and that we trusted the whole team to play our game. As we took the ball forward I walked off the field and like magic they pulled together and played some of the best rugby I have seen them play. We moved the ball from left to right offloading with Mackenzie adding some zip and crossing in the corner picking up clubman award for his efforts. From the restart you could here Matthew getting the defensive line in place ready for the restart and so they did and drove them back turning over the ball. The ball went through the hands again Dewi cut through the middle to score. We continued to pass the ball and tackle like demons where move of the match we went left offloading then we came right with Samuel in space for the pass to just fall short with space for him to burn into. Samuel looked sharp in attack all day making yards but his defence was awesome and picked up individual effort. Last play of the game and Llantwit were attacking we raced up with Samuel smashing the runner back who then tried to offload for Matty to read the play so well and intercept the pass and ran with all his might to cross in the corner in front of his mother. What he didn't see was our supporters cheering dancing up and down on the side line. Dewi and Matt shared top try scorer award. Today we watched our team grow and were very proud of what they all did all game but especially the last 10 minutes where they took responsibility and shone, I was nervous and excited watching from the side but I should not have worried those little boys are not so little anymore. Last game next week lets finish with a bang.
