PORTHCAWL 29 BRYNCOCH 3

Porthcawl maintained their unbeaten season with a win against a Bryncoch side that has recently moved steadily up to fourth place in the Division.

The Seaweeds were off the mark nicely when Alex Davies put on his skates and shot over for the first try, Jordan Fox’s conversion falling short, for 5-nil.

Bryncoch snatched a penalty back from Steve Hughes for 5-3 but that’s all they got out of a Porthcawl side that is mean on giveaways.

Skipper Richard Hnyda is having a golden patch of form for Porthcawl, with his general all round displays, supplying great leadership and providing the engine in the home scrum, whilst getting on the score sheet. When he increased the home side’s lead to grab another try for his season’s tally, with Fox converting, it was no more than Porthcawl deserved for 12-3.

Another forward to impress this season is young utility forward Will Robinson who can operate anywhere in the back five and when he snatched a further Seaweeds try before the break, Porthcawl were a comfortable 17-3 in front at the break.
With the visitors struggling to cope with the level of Porthcawl’s grip and control on the match, they allowed themselves to become frustrated and a couple of unsavoury late shots off the ball didn’t help their cause.

With a steady stream of possession, the Seaweeds marched on, Alex Davies securing his second try for 22-3 as the home side moved the ball wide and at pace.

With Bryncoch now well out of it, Porthcawl pressed home their advantage, with pocket dynamo speedster Lloyd Rosser grabbing deserved try, which Fox converted with a fine kick, to close out the match at 29-3 and another Porthcawl win.

The Seaweeds are two matches behind leaders Birchgrove and the crunch match will come soon enough.
